Did you scout Geno VanDeMark before the draft? If so, what stood out about him?
Yeah Geno was pretty high on our draft boards. He was pretty impressive in college. That class had a few stud offensive lineman so we were happy with how it played out for us, but yeah Geno is a solid player and he'll be in the league a long time.
Can you describe kind of the energy or the mood and the vibe in the building now coming in the home stretch?
We had some tough losses and then the injury bug got us pretty bad, but I can tell you the guys in there are FIRED UP to finally all be back healthy. I think the game Anthony just had only made that fire bigger. We may have fallen short on this season's expectations, but we still have some games left and these guys are ready to roll. That energy is contagious.
Your team is one of the oldest teams in the league in terms of average age. How do you feel about the future of this team while not having as many young players as other teams? Do you think having an older team has its benefits?
It's not intentional. The cards fall how they fall. It's not my job as a head coach to assess a guy's age and how many years he can contribute to us. That's our GM's job, I just coach the team given to me, and I feel like we have a great group with a solid nucleus of talented players. The young guys lean on the vets for knowledge and experience, and the young guys keep the vets on their toes. It's a good thing.
