Can you summarize what it was like playing against the Giants last week?
Playing against the Giants was definitely a unique challenge. From the opening whistle, you could tell they were well-prepared and had a plan specifically tailored to counter what we like to do. They executed their game plan effectively, and it felt like they were just a step ahead in key moments throughout the game. Their coach put together a defensive scheme that we’re not necessarily used to seeing, and I think that threw us off in certain situations. We’ve gone up against some tough defenses in the past, but this one was a little different. They were able to get pressure and force us into situations where we had to adjust on the fly, which isn’t always easy to do.
That being said, we’ve faced adversity before, and this was another learning experience for us. It’s tough playing against two top-tier defenses back to back like we have, but these are the types of games that help a team grow. It exposes areas where we can improve, and we’ve got to take those lessons and apply them moving forward. We can’t dwell on the result too much, but we do need to use it as a tool for getting better. Hopefully, when we see another team with a similar approach, we’ll be better equipped to handle it. That’s what this league is about—adjusting and learning from every game, win or lose.
How is the team handling the bye week this week?
The bye week is always an interesting time for any team. On one hand, it's an opportunity to rest and recover from the physical toll that the season takes, but on the other hand, it's also a critical moment for reflection and growth. I think we’re handling it well because we’re striking that balance. Physically, we’re giving the guys time to heal up from the bumps and bruises that naturally come from playing week after week in this league. That’s important because you want to be fresh and ready for the challenges that lie ahead. But we’re not just taking time off. The coaching staff and the players are using this break to really evaluate where we are as a team.
We’re going back over film, looking at what’s worked for us, and also identifying the areas where we haven’t been as successful. It’s about fine-tuning the little things that maybe don’t stand out right away but can make a big difference down the line. This is a critical point in the season for us because we know what’s coming—there’s a tough stretch of games on the horizon, and we need to be at our best. Mentally, I think the bye week is just as important as physically. It’s a chance for everyone to reset, refocus, and come back with that same hunger. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, and we’re taking this time to make sure we’re ready for it.
Can you talk about the development of Xavier Legette so far?
Xavier has been one of those rare rookies who comes into the league and almost instantly makes an impact. When we drafted him, we knew he had potential, but I don’t think anyone could have predicted just how quickly he’d adjust to the pro level. From the moment he stepped into our facility, his work ethic has been off the charts. He’s eager to learn, he listens to the veterans, and most importantly, he puts in the work every single day. It’s not just about what he’s doing on Sundays; it’s the preparation, the film study, and the way he approaches practice. That’s what’s separating him from a lot of other young players.
On the field, he’s already shown that he has the ability to be a game-changer. You look at his stats—he’s been in the top five in receptions, yards, and touchdowns almost every week for the last 10 weeks, and that’s a testament to how hard he’s working. It’s rare to see a rookie come in and have that kind of production, especially at a position as demanding as wide receiver. There’s a lot of pressure that comes with being a young player in this league, but he’s handled it with a level of maturity that you don’t often see. He’s making plays in crucial moments, and that’s what you want out of a guy you see as a future #1 receiver.
We’ve got a lot of faith in him, and we think he’s only scratched the surface of what he can do. He’s got all the tools to be one of the best in the league, but what really excites us is his mindset. He’s never satisfied, he’s always looking to improve, and he wants to be great. That’s the kind of player you can build around, and we’re excited to see where he goes from here. His development has been a bright spot for us, and we’re confident he’s going to continue to elevate his game.
