Tannehill has been great for us since stepping in as the starting QB, but Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens were shaky in their time. Overall the QBs have combined for 333 passing yards per game, with 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 11 games. The turnovers are high, but the other numbers are solid, especially given how the rushing attack has been.
RBs: C
Running the ball hasn’t been our strongest point, and that does not all fall on the running backs, but they haven’t gone above expected either. They have been solid in the receiving game, but have put the ball on the ground a little too much for our liking.
WRs: A-
This was the strength of the team coming in, mainly Justin Jefferson, but Addison and Nailor have been plus players as well. Jefferson has been his dominant self, averaging over 100 yards per game and coming through in big moments despite missing 2 games. Addison has missed some time but seems to be finding his groove. When this group is healthy they are very tough to cover.
TEs: A
Hockenson has had some big games since coming back from injury week 5, and Josh Oliver was a good fill in for the games before that. So far they have combined for 600+ yards and 9 touchdowns.
OL: C-
The pass blocking has been pretty good all things considered, but the run blocking has been very poor. Our tackles are the strength of the line so it makes sense why our pass protection would be better, but the run blocking needs to improve
DL: B
Run defense has been good, and pass rush has been ok. We are 3rd in total sacks, but playing the games it does not feel like we get pressure quick. Dallas Turner has been a good rookie, but Van Ginkel may need to step it up down the stretch. The rotation of interior players has played above expectations.
LBs: A
Our two starting MLBs, Ivan Pace and Brian Asamoah, have combined for 53 solo tackles, 13 INTs, 3 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. They have played great coverage over the middle, and as of now Asamoah leads the league in INT.
DBs: B
We knew coming in to this season that this would be a group we would have to patch together, but Harrison Smith has been an elite safety all year, with some younger guys stepping up as of late and looking like long term pieces. There still may be a lot of change in this group between this year and next.
