Everette looks like a great fit for the Packers secondary. This selection would be continuing to invest in their DBs and keep that area of the team as a strength. Everette has good coverage ability and is a great athlete as well. I think late teens to early twenties is where we see Everette come off the board, and I like the fit with the Packers in Green Bay.
Pick 18, The New Orleans Saints Select MLB Harold Perkins from LSU
It would be a shock to see any other MLB come off the board before Harold Perkins in this draft. He is on the lighter side at 230 pounds, but is the best athlete of any linebacker. He could even play edge if you want him to. The Saints need help in a lot of places, so picking someone with positional versatility could be very valuable for them. I do not know if Perkins will make it all the way to the Saints at pick 18, but if he does this would be a home run pick for New Orleans.
Pick 19, The Cleveland Browns Select RT Emery Jones Jr. from LSU
I don’t see this pick happening this way. The Browns still have some talent on their offensive line, and I think this pick is better spent elsewhere. Perhaps a replacement for Nick Chubb or Jerry Jeudy. Some help on the defensive line for Myles Garrett, or a linebacker to go next to Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.
Pick 20, The New York Giants Select QB Cam Ward from Miami
If this happens in the real draft the Giants will be doing backflips. We know how much the Giants hate Daniel Jones, and they are a Miami Hurricanes fan. Unfortunately for them I do not see this actually happening. If Cam Ward makes it to pick 20 they would sprint the card in, but I find it hard to believe that Ward makes it to 20. Ward is one of only a few true dual threat QBs in this class, so they will be valued highly.
Pick 21, The Indianapolis Colts Select CB Denzel Burke from Ohio State
The Colts for sure need help at CB, and Burke certainly is a CB. Burke is a good, but not great athlete, with solid coverage skills. I think the Colts will probably take a CB with this pick, but I would be very surprised if it is Denzel Burke. Burke may be worthy of a late first round selection, but I think there are other options better, maybe they could take a different position and hope to maybe double dip at CB later.
Pick 22, The Washington Commanders Select DE Patrick Payton, from Florida State
This is the Commanders second pick of the first round, and both will be spent on the defensive front. Payton is a monster athlete for his size, running a 4.6 40 yard dash at 6’5″ 254 pounds. Payton has skills to beat blocks as well. I like this pick for Washington, as I think Payton could be a undervalued prospect in this class.
Pick 23, the Dallas Cowboys Select WR Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State
WR is a huge need for the Dallas Cowboys as they basically only have Ceedee Lamb in their WR room. I like Egbuka as a player, but he has a similar style to Ceedee Lamb. Neither are burners, but both are good route runners and are solid after the catch. I think this is probably the position the Cowboys take, but maybe a different player.
Pick 24, The Detroit Lions Select LT Aireontae Ersery from Minnesota
I will say I know absolutely nothing about this guy, but I would be very surprised if the Lions take a LT, given how much of a strength their line is. I could see the Lions taking another CB across from Terrion Arnold, another edge rusher across from Aidan Hutchinson, or maybe a QB to take over for Jared Goff.
Pick 25, The Las Vegas Raiders Select CB Tacario Davis from Arizona
Davis is not a burner by any means, but he is fast enough to allow his height to come in to play. Davis is the tallest corner in this draft class at 6’4, and if that is something you value then he is the guy for you. I could see him fitting in well with the Raiders, since they already have Jakorian Bennett to keep up with other teams deep threats, now you can have Davis match up with other teams biggest WR. Not sure if this is the position the Raiders will take, but I like the fit.
Pick 26, the Philadelphia Eagles select LT Josh Conerly Jr. from Oregon.
Philadelphia is one of the few teams that I could see taking a OL in the first round. The rest of the roster is so good, and Lane Johnson just retired. I wouldn’t be too surprised if the Eagles were only the first or second team to take a lineman. Most other teams I don’t think it makes sense, but for Philly I think it does.
Pick 27, The Buffalo Bills select RG DJ Campbell from Texas.
The Bills could definitely use some help on their offensive line, but with Josh Allen I think they want to improve their receiving core. They just traded away Dalton Kincaid, so I could see them being the first team to take a tight end. They also could get a true #1 receiver for Josh Allen to go to. There are a lot of ways for Buffalo to go with this pick, and I don’t think any of them are bad.
Pick 28, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Select DT Kenneth Grant from Michigan
Last season the Buccaneers spent a lot of resources to improve their secondary, leaving they with a depleted set of draft picks for this draft. If I were them I would look to potentially replace Baker Mayfield or one of your aging WRs. Vita Vea is 30, so finding his replacement in the middle of your line is not a bad idea either. I think the Bucs are in a good position where they can take the best player available at one of their positions of need.
Pick 29, The Seattle Seahawks Select RT Jonah Savaiinaea from Arizona
The Seahawks have made some interesting moves this offseason, making their draft really unpredictable. Their offensive line is far from elite, but also not their biggest issue. Their front 7 is pretty weak and now have a hole in their secondary after trading away Devon Witherspoon. If they go with a QB at pick 5 like I expect them to, I think pick 29 is spent on defense.
Pick 30, The Los Angeles Chargers select DT Walter Nolen from Ole Miss
The Chargers are an interesting team where they have very clear needs at certain positions, but positions that I don’t expect them to draft highly. They need a RB and TE, but I think they could address that later. Nolen is a talented player, but on the smaller side of DTs. He won’t be able to be a nose tackle, but should still be a productive player, just needs to go to the right fit.
Pick 31, The Kansas City Chiefs select DT Tyleik Williams from Ohio State
Williams can be your nose tackle if you ask him to. Him and Chris Jones up the middle is a scary duo to try and run at. Williams can eat up space while playing well as a run defender and pass rusher. Williams should go in the late first or early second, depending on what teams are looking to draft a DT.
Pick 32, The Minnesota Vikings select FS Malaki Starks from Georgia
Starks should probably be the first safety off the board. He has good coverage skills and elite speed for a safety. The Vikings have a need at safety and Starks could fill that. I like the position Minnesota is in to be able to take best player available, depending on how the board falls. p
