Week 1 Snapshot(2025)

This will be a weekly series where I will be looking at the box score and giving a summary/ my thoughts of how I felt each game went if I was able to watch it. This may change as the season goes on and the article progresses but for now this is how it is.

Chiefs 52 VS Vikings 42

The superbowl rematch ended with the Chiefs getting their revenge. I am sure they would have preferred to have it the other way around but this is better than nothing. Mahomes faced off against the rookie Allar and both played incredibly well, however, Mahomes got the best of him. Mahomes threw 6 touchdowns compared to Allars 4, with them both throwing an interception. Worthy took over the game, catching 10 passes for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns. If this is the kind of play that he will be having this season, this offense won’t be stopped.

Lions 20 VS Commanders 27

This wasn’t the way I thought this game was going to end and I certainly didn’t predict Fin to leave the league because of it. If losing a close game versus a good opponent is enough to send you into a fit of rage and quit the league, I think you might have some real life issues to work out. This was a great win for a retooled Commander offense. The offense is complete with Mclaurin, Kindcaid, Brown, and Sampson. You had Daniels not throwing interceptions and it’s a hard team to stop. Que could be the first coach to go from worst to first this cycle.

Texans 17 VS Jets 20

This was the first test for the number one overall pick Milroe and while he didnt have the greatest game, he got his team the win. Milroe battled Stroud in this one and while he had a better QBR, they both threw 2 interceptions and played poorly. We could also turn that around and say both defenses played great. Stroud is a shell of himself with his lost abilities and this may come back to haunt the Texans. Milroe will need to shape up a bit as two interceptions a game will eventually lose him his development trait and that would really ruin what it took to get him to the Jets.

Raiders 38 Vs Jaguars 24

The Raiders got their new quarterback and they look like a completely different team. They traded for Milton and his 97 throw power. While he isn’t the fastest, he is fast enough where the Raiders will run with him if it’s there. Thornton is their number one receiver and he looks to be great. He was the focus on the offense, catching 6 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. The Raiders dont have the best overall team but this is due to low overall, fast players. Don’t let this fool you as the offense doesn’t matter and all you need is fast players and someone with a strong arm who is accurate. Combine this with the best defensive line in the game and you have a team that will compete for the top spot in the AFC this season.

Patriots 38 VS Ravens 44

This one a computer game that was almost lost. Luckily for the Ravens that they won because when you’re in a close division you need every win that you can get.

Dolphins 36 VS Browns 40

Both teams picked one of the top quarterbacks in the draft in Sanders and Ward and both got hurt in the preseason. This matchup was DTR versus a still superstar TUA. If HD would have lost this game, he would have not let the fact that he was still a superstar go. It didn’t matter as even though the score looked close, HD had this game wrapped up early and Curt got all of his points near garbage time. DTR played okay but it was the run game and defense for the Browns that made the defense. They forced 4 interceptions and ran for a total of 264 yards. Who needs your quarterback if you can just do that all game.

Saints 51 VS Falcons 7

The Falcons made a ton of trades, one of the best defenses in the league at the detriment of their offense and draft picks this offseason. When you do something like that then the goal is to hold opponents under 20 points per game. Not only did they give up one of the highest points in week 1, but they scored the lowest. If something doesn’t change and Arod has a top 5 pick this offseason, it will look pretty bad.

Titans 41 VS Colts 53

New season, same Levis. The Titans overhauled their offense in the offseason but it didn’t matter in this game. The prediction was that DK was going to make a huge statement in Tennessee, however, Levis was going to throw multiple picks in the process. That prediction came true as he threw 4 interceptions in this one. Another question was where is the defense? The offense putting up 41 should have been plenty to secure the game but wasn’t. This one also ended in some controversy with a scoring play that shouldn’t have been scored. It was determined that the plat was fair game, but what does everyone else think?

Packers 14 VS Bears 34

Welp, the Bears are officially back. After a disastrous back half of their season in which Caleb Williams was injured, they started off this season with a big win over a divisional rival. The offense was clicking, but the big news from this one was their third round running back Johnson’s big day rushing for 203 yards and a touchdown. If they can keep this up, andCaleb doesn’t get hurt again, the Bears will make this division interesting.

Bengals 16 VS 49ers 40

A 95 speed backup is all you need when your superstar running back gets hurt. Well, that and great defense. Purdy only threw the ball 14 times and let the running game and defense do the work.  This was the 49er team that was expected to win season one. Maybe he can take this momentum and do something within the division this year.

Panthers 20 VS Cardinals 42

Getting quite possibly the best two players in the draft did not seem to help the Carolina offense in this one. Given the fact that Young and Willis combined for 5 interceptions, maybe one of those picks should have been on a top quarterback. It seems when they have a healthy team the Cards can win games. They will be looking to take their healthy team into this season and right the ship and never look back.

Eagles 35 VS Broncos 28

This was a close one versus a new opponent. He actually played pretty well. He took what I gave him and just dragged me to death. This almost worked but I caught on to what he was doing and changed things up. It ended with his wide receiver catching the ball in the endzone, however, a perfectly timed hit ensured that only one foot got in bounds. Our offense was very sloppy. Hurts had a bad start to the year as he sailed multiple wide open receivers and his interceptions were some questionable passes. Barkley suffered his first fumble of the season and it’s a shame that even with 96 carries, conservative is needed or a fumble will occur.

Steelers 42 VS Rams 48

This was a good game where another new user played a veteran PML coach down to the wire. Fields was the chosen quarterback and after his 53 interceptions season last season, he came out here and threw none. Obviously user skill comes into play, but it’s nice to see a new guy come in and not throw 4 interceptions in their debut. Fields is a great Madden quarterback and it seems that he is in good hands here. The combination of Ewers and Prescott put up just enough puts to secure the win. I wonder who will be the quarterback for the season in LA.

Buccaneers 35 VS Seahawks 31

DK’s replacement had 3 receptions for 31 yards in this one. Howell didn’t have his security blanket and it resulted in him throwing 4 interceptions. I didn’t watch this one but the box score shows me that DK could have been used and most likely would have won them the game. For as much as I saw the Bucs rookies this week, the defensive end didn’t do anything here. It was a good win for them but the rookies didn’t have much to do about it.

Giants 42 VS Cowboys 50

Doc was able to switch over the Broncos to the Cowboys and he showed first hand just how much of a difference in teams could make. He couldn’t make the playoffs in a win and you were in a game with the Broncos but showed off his skills with the Cowboys here. I have no idea who Restrepo is and I don’t think anyone in the league did before this game but he took the Giants by storm. His 9 receptions for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns will be remembered by them for the rest of the season. Daniel Jones is no more but the interceptions remain. Jefferson did have a big day throwing 6 touchdowns but the inaccuracies and the 4 interceptions ended up outweighing that. It will be interesting to see how his rookie season progresses.

Bills 13 VS Chargers 35

The Chargers are out to prove that they are the real deal in the West this season. Herbert only needed 13 completions to score 4 touchdowns and seal this game. The defense locked up Josh Allen so much, the Bills put in their rookie Leonard who actually played better than Allen. Both had the same amount of yards thrown for but Leonard threw a touchdown pass. I doubt there is a quarterback controversy here but you wonder if Cammy would play better without Allen?
