Q1: Coach, why have you declined to talk to the media through the first third of the regular season?
S.S: In light of recent events that took place with an “unnamed” individual on the IG live, I did not want any unnecessary media disruption. These past weeks, my energy has focused solely on building a bond with this team and getting our footing as an organization.
Q2: The Broncos are currently on pace to finish with a worse record than last year. What do you have to say about the team’s slow start to the season?
S.S: Frankly, our start to the season has been an utter embarrassment. Anytime you’re nearing the midway point of the season with only one win, it’s time to start sounding some alarms. And I take full responsibility for nothing short of a sluggish start. It falls on me to band these young men together and mold them into the championship-caliber team I know they can be.
This is a young squad, the third youngest team in the league, and there’s a lot of development ahead of them. I’m optimistic we can take a 180 and make a mid-season turnaround.
Q3: You have just taken the reins to a growing and relatively inexperienced team in what is regarded as the most competitive division in the National Football League; how can you prove to the league and fanbase that this franchise can be a threat?
S.S: Look, there is no denying that this division is not a cakewalk, but like any great franchise, it takes time and patience. You don’t just wake up a champion one day. That takes work, you gotta trust the process. And In that process, there come losses; it’s about learning and bouncing back from them. I don’t mind mistakes, we just have to learn to not make the same mistakes twice.
I do not expect us to win the division this year, but I do expect this team to play every game like it’s for the title. If we can learn how to do that, I can guarantee this team will be on top of the division in which it belongs. And it starts this week against the Chargers.
S.S: Alright, no more questions. Don’t forget to tune into the Club Shay Shay Podcast this week.
