Reporter: “GM Benny, you’ve faced a lot of scrutiny for some of the moves you’ve made this offseason. How do you feel about the roster you’ve put together, and what do you say to those calling your decisions ‘idiotic’?”
GM Benny:
“Let me be clear—I don’t care what anyone outside this organization thinks. My job isn’t to win a popularity contest; it’s to build a team that competes and wins championships. Every move we’ve made has been in the best interest of this team, not to please the critics or the fans who don’t see the full picture.”
On the roster:
“I feel great about the roster we’ve assembled. We’ve got a blend of proven veterans, exciting young talent, and guys with chips on their shoulders who are ready to prove something. Trading Marlon Humphrey? People thought I was crazy, but look where we are now—we have Derek Stingley Jr. locking down one side of the field and added depth in the trenches with Darius Robinson. We’re younger, faster, and more dynamic than we’ve been in years.”
On the draft picks and offseason additions:
“Nyck Harbor was the right pick at number one—no question about it. A guy with 97 speed and the potential to become a generational talent doesn’t come around often. Picking up Tyler Allgeier off the streets and seeing him put up numbers in the preseason just validates the strategy of betting on hungry players. Add guys like Jeremiah Cooper, Dorian Strong, and Flip Dixon II, and you’ve got a team with depth and versatility.”
On the criticism:
“Look, if people want to call me idiotic for taking risks, so be it. You don’t win in this league by playing it safe. I believe in the vision we have for this team, and I believe in the players and staff we’ve brought in. At the end of the day, the results will speak for themselves. Until then, let the doubters talk—we’ll let our play on the field do the real talking.”
Reporter: “So, you’re confident this team is ready to compete now?”
GM Benny:
“Absolutely. This team has what it takes to compete now and build for the future. We’ve got the right mix of leadership, talent, and hunger. We’ve laid the foundation, and now it’s time to execute. Let’s see how the season unfolds—but I like where we’re headed.”
Reporter: “Thanks, GM Benny. Best of luck this season.”
GM Benny:
“Appreciate it. Let’s get to work.”
