As the PML franchise league heads into Week 6, one player has just hit a milestone that has fans and teammates buzzing. Safety Dillon Thieneman, known for his impressive athleticism and game-changing plays, has now hit the critical threshold of 70 Awareness, making him eligible to play as a Sub Linebacker starting this week. It’s a huge achievement in a league where only the most disciplined and instinctive players can take on the extra responsibility in the middle of the defense.
In an exclusive interview with Lisa Salters, Thieneman spoke about the excitement and pressure of this new role.
Lisa Salters: “Dillon, this is a big moment for you. You’ve been working hard for this opportunity to play as a Sub Linebacker, and now that you’ve crossed the 70 Awareness threshold, how does it feel?”
Dillon Thieneman: smiling wide “It feels amazing, Lisa! It’s been a long journey, but all that hard work has finally paid off. It’s been a goal of mine since I came into the league to get that Awareness to a level where I can take on this responsibility. I’m just excited to be able to contribute even more to the team. It’s been a grind, but now, I feel like I’m ready to make an even bigger impact.”
Lisa Salters: “And this impact is coming right when your team needs it most, as you head into Week 7 with a tight race for the top spots in your division. As a Sub LB, you’ll be closer to the line of scrimmage, giving you more opportunities to make tackles and play a role in stopping the run. What can fans expect from you now that you’ve got that extra freedom in the defense?”
Dillon Thieneman: “You know, Lisa, I’m ready to be that playmaker on the field. I know my strength lies in making big hits and being where the action is, so now that I’ve got this new role, I’m going to be a more versatile weapon for the defense. I’m bringing the heat—whether it’s stopping a running back in their tracks or breaking up a pass in the middle of the field. I’ve got the speed and instincts to do it, and I’m excited to show the league that I’m not just a safety; I’m a difference-maker, no matter where they put me.”
Lisa Salters: “You’ve certainly been making waves as a safety, Dillon, but now with the added responsibility, how do you prepare mentally and physically for this change? What’s your approach going into Week 7?”
Dillon Thieneman: “Mentally, I’ve been preparing for this all season. I’ve been watching film, studying the opponents’ offenses, and understanding the nuances of the Sub LB position. The biggest challenge is being in the box, reading the offensive line’s movements, and anticipating what’s coming next. Physically, I’m just staying sharp. I’ve been working on my tackling form, improving my reaction time, and making sure I’m ready to take on blockers while staying agile. I know I’ll be facing a lot more action up close, but I’m ready for it. I’ve got the tools to succeed, and I’m confident that I can handle it.”
Lisa Salters: “With your team’s defense currently ranked [insert team ranking], how do you see your role shifting the momentum as you take on this new position?”
Dillon Thieneman: looking determined “Our defense is solid, but I believe we can be even better. By playing as a Sub LB, I’m adding another layer of pressure to the offense. We’ve got great pass rushers, and now, with me in the box, we can be even more aggressive. Whether it’s defending against the run or covering short routes, I plan on being in the middle of it all, making life difficult for the opposing offenses. My speed and ability to read plays will make a huge difference, and I believe we’ll be able to take that next step as a defense.”
Lisa Salters: “Sounds like you’re more than ready for the challenge, Dillon. What do you want to say to your teammates and the fans as you head into this new chapter of your season?”
Dillon Thieneman: “To my teammates, I just want to say I’m all in. I’ll be right there with you, every play, doing whatever I can to help us win. And to the fans, get ready! Week 7 is going to be exciting, and I’m ready to bring my best. Let’s get this defense to the next level!”
Thieneman’s transition into the Sub Linebacker role is just the beginning of what promises to be a game-changing second half of the season. Fans can expect to see a more aggressive and versatile defense, with Thieneman leading the charge from the front. As the team gets closer to playoff contention, his impact on the field is sure to be felt across the league.
The future is bright for Dillon Thieneman, and Week 7 will be his moment to shine. Stay tuned to see how the defense elevates with their newest Sub Linebacker in action!
