The Miami Dolphins traveled to Buffalo to face off against the Bills in week 14, but what they didn’t know was that they were in for a rough game like lambs to the slaughter. The Dolphins were in a good position to take the division lead, but muffed it up big time. Russell Wilson had his worst game this season and it came at the most awful time. The Dolphins started off the game with the ball and they were able to drive the length of the field and Russell Wilson found a crossing Jaylen Waddle who out ran three Bills defenders for a touchdown. This was the highlight of the game for the Miami Dolphins and everything that happened after went to H***. The Dolphins would proceed to hold the Bills to 3 points on their first drive, but on the next offensive drive for the Dolphins, Russell Wilson threw into triple coverage and what should have been at least a 7 point lead for the Dolphins turned into a gift for the Bills.
Russell Wilson completed 23 of his 34 passing attempts and threw for 364 yards, 1 touchdown, and a staggering 5 interceptions. Wilson was feeling the pressure all game long and he was targeting receivers down the field when he had open receivers underneath. It appeared that after his first interception in the redzone, Wilson wanted to get it all back on every proceeding play. Wilson was seen throwing a tantrum on the sideline because he believed that Will Fuller didn’t exert any effort in trying to catch the ball that he threw that led to his first interception. The Dolphins wanted to start the game with a heavy focus on the run game but after going down by two scores, they abandoned any hope of running the football. Salvon Ahmed carried the football 13 times for 49 yards and had 1 touchdown. He also added 3 catches for 32 yards. It was a method that led to disaster for the Dolphins and they will need to bounce back next week against a divisional rival that they have yet to defeat this cycle.
Offensive Statline of the Game –
Jaylen Waddle – 4 catches, 107 yards, and 1 touchdown.
Jaylen Waddle jump started the offense on the first drive by taking a short pass and running 69 yards with it for the distance. Will Fuller had 6 catches of his own for 111 yards, but most of his yards came in garbage time. The offense for the Miami Dolphins struggled big time, it reminded fans of the Dolphins of the Tua error, it wasn’t for the faint of heart.
Defensive Statline of the Game –
Steven Nelson – 1 tackle, 1 sack, and 1 interception.
It is very hard to pick out a defensive standout when you lose 38-14 and give up over 504 yards of offense, but Steven Nelson made a few impact plays early on in the game that could have swung momentum in the favour of the Dolphins had they not turned the ball over as much.
The Miami Dolphins will take their 8-5 record into week 15 where they have to face off against the New England Patriots. Both teams will be fighting for a playoff spot and this game may decide the fate of the Dolphins. It’s hard to see a six loss record competing for a playoff spot in the AFC.
