Hidden Yardage: Travis Hunter Is Redefining Two-Way Football in the PML

Every league has stars, but some players are bigger than the box score. This season, nobody proves that more than Jacksonville Jaguars two-way sensation Travis Hunter.

On defense, his production is already official: 3 interceptions through 6 games. And those picks aren’t coming easy. Under Coach Ke’s defensive system, Hunter isn’t protected or hidden in zone coverage — he’s lined up one-on-one with the opposing team’s best receiver, no safety help, no excuses. He’s been tested every week, and every week he’s answered the call, shutting down elite targets and making quarterbacks think twice before throwing in his direction. Over a full 17-game season, that pace projects to around 8 interceptions, which would put him in All-Pro territory.

And that’s just half the story.

Because of Madden’s system, Hunter’s offensive production doesn’t even show up on the stat sheet. Listed as a cornerback, every yard and touchdown he earns at wide receiver disappears at the end of the game. But when you stack quarterback stats against the receiver totals, the truth is clear:

  • Jaguars QBs have thrown for 2,144 yards and 23 TDs.
  • The receiving chart only shows 1,653 yards and 20 TDs.
  • That leaves 491 yards and 3 touchdowns unaccounted for — all Travis Hunter.

Through 6 games, that hidden production is elite. Projected over a 17-game season, Hunter is on pace for roughly 1,391 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns. That would make him one of the top receivers in the entire league — on top of being the Jaguars’ shutdown corner.

The reason he’s able to dominate both ways comes down to something no other player has: Ironman. Madden created the ability specifically for him, and he’s the only player in the game with it. Ironman prevents him from taking the usual ratings penalties for playing out of position, letting him go from locking up WR1s on defense to running crisp routes on offense without missing a beat. Add in his Recuperation and Strip Specialist traits, and it’s clear Hunter was engineered to be different.

Around the league, coaches and GMs are buzzing. Some call him unfair, others call him unstoppable. But everybody agrees on one thing: Travis Hunter is changing the game. Whether it’s clamping down on defense or racking up hidden yards on offense, his impact is undeniable. The box score may not tell the full story — but through 6 games, the numbers say he’s on pace to have one of the most unique and dominant seasons the PML has ever seen.
