Cowboys Ride Explosive Second Quarter to 37–16 Win Over Jets

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Dallas Cowboys continue to prove they’re one of the NFC’s most dangerous teams, pulling away from the New York Jets in Week 5 with a commanding 37–16 victory at MetLife Stadium. Powered by a second-quarter explosion and efficient play on both sides of the ball, Dallas improves to 3 – 2 on the season.

Prescott Steers the Offense

Quarterback Dak Prescott once again set the tone, completing 25 of 38 passes (65%) for 322 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Prescott kept the chains moving while also attacking downfield, highlighted by a 50-yard strike to CeeDee Lamb.

CeeDee Lamb Shines Bright

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb put together a dominant outing, finishing with six catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns, including explosive gains of 48 and 50 yards. His ability to create separation and generate yards after the catch was the difference-maker against a Jets secondary that couldn’t keep up.

Other key contributors included:

  • Jake Ferguson: 5 receptions, 80 yards, 1 TD
  • George Pickens: 3 receptions, 38 yards
  • Jalen Tolbert: 5 receptions, 35 yards
  • Luke Schoonmaker: 2 receptions, 6 yards, 1 TD

Williams Provides Ground Balance

Running back Javonte Williams kept the Jets defense honest with a tough day on the ground, rushing 17 times for 84 yards (4.9 avg), breaking five tackles in the process. Rookie Jaydon Blue added 25 yards on 6 carries, while Prescott chipped in 5 yards with his legs.

Defense Clamps Down

The Dallas defense allowed just 183 total yards and came up with timely stops all game long.

  • Sam Williams: 6 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack
  • Damone Clark: 5 tackles, 3 TFL
  • Malik Hooker: 4 tackles, 1 interception (returned 7 yards)
  • Trevon Diggs: 5 tackles, 2 pass breakups
  • Donovan Wilson: 5 tackles, 2 pass breakups

The Cowboys bottled up the Jets’ rushing attack and forced two turnovers, holding New York to only one touchdown and three field goals across four quarters.

Second Quarter Surge

After a quiet opening frame, Dallas exploded for 24 points in the second quarter, flipping a 7–3 deficit into a commanding 27–10 halftime lead. From there, the Cowboys managed the game, adding 10 more points in the second half while the defense slammed the door on any comeback attempt.

What’s Next

With the win, the Cowboys move to 3 – 2 and maintain momentum in a competitive NFC East race. Prescott and Lamb are firing on all cylinders, while the defense continues to find its rhythm.

Dallas will look to extend its winning streak in Week 6 as they push toward the top of the conference standings.
