This is our third official check in to see how the Giants rookies are doing so far this year. We will take a look at their stats from the last four weeks and see if any of them are making an impact or potentially in line for any early awards.
Edge Abdul Carter SUPERSTAR 82->83->84OVR (RD1P3):
Player TKL SCK INT FF FR TD
Carter 24.0 10.0 1 0 0
Carter continues to shine with every game. He leads all rookies in sacks with 10, which also ties him with Myles Garrett for the lead in sacks in the league. With the entire league down in overall sack numbers, a rookie putting up the same numbers as the best defensive end in the game is impressive. At this point it is a two man race for defensive rookie of the year. Carter is competing with Washington linebacker Medrano for the title. Medrano is in first place and that is because interceptions are valued higher than sacks. He has 8 interceptions on the season, but hopefully he won’t get anymore. Note to everyone, stop throwing at the low overall fast linebacker.
HB Cam Skattebo STAR 74 OVR (RD4P3):
Player Att Yds Avg TD Lng 20+ BKT
Skattebo 41 211 5.1 1 26 1 3
The Giants run game as a whole hasn’t been very good which means less carries for Cam. He is good on short yardage plays, but his speed is a hindrance in this offense. With the trade for Mitchell, it looks like Cam will be a featured full back and potentially a trade target next season.
QB Jaxson Dart NORMAL 71->74 OVR (RD1P25):
Player Cmp Att % Yds Avg TD INT Lng
Dart 289 399 72.4 4158 10.4 38 11 83 0.0 10 84
Dart has done something magical this year in New York. He is on pace to have the best rookie season as a quarterback ever in franchise history. He has already eclipsed his 3500, 30 touchdown goals and received 20 XP for his efforts. This gave him 5 upgrade points but they will be used at the end of the season. Dart has been fantastic throwing the football, limiting turnovers and being reliably accurate. He is in the running for offensive rookie of the year with Commanders running back Merriot. It will be a close finish between the two players. The issue with Dart is he isn’t the prototypical Madden quarterback. He is only 84 speed, with 88 throw power. This is getting the job done, but the offense is only scoring on average 30 points a game, while other teams are scoring way more.
