The first player to receive a development game for the Giants was cornerback Cordale Flott. Flott was being used at the safety position as his speed, mixed with the Giants being set with corners made the most sense. During his time playing Flott racked up the interceptions which reuslted in him being gifted the development game. He was able to get the required statistics and developed into a superstar. The issue for the Giants was that he wasn’t going to be resigned so the best thing would be to trade him. The Giants had a decent amount of offers for him but the best came from the Ravens. The original offer was for draft picks, but the Trade Committee had other plans. The trade was changed 4 times, with the 5 time finally being approved. These are the denied proposals:
1. CB CorDale Flott 349.80 for Current Pick 84 Overall (R3P20) 340
The rejections was that even though on the trade calc they are the same, this was enough of a premier pick for a 24 year old superstar.
2. CB CorDale Flott 349.80 for Current Pick 52 Overall (R2P20) 760
We submitted this thinking that a second pick in the frist draft would be good enough. They had the same response as the first proposal.
3. CB CorDale Flott 349.80 for Current Pick 52 Overall (R2P20) 760,Current Pick 148 Overall (R5P20) 61.2
Next Year Pick 116 Overall (R4P20) 108.5
We figured okay, how about a plethora of picks. The resoponse was that none of these picks were high enough to offset the value of a young superstar player.
4. CB CorDale Flott 349.80 for HB Keaton Mitchell 505.10, Current Pick 52 Overall (R2P20) 760
Once I founf out Mitchell was on the block, I propsed this trade and though for sure that Mitchell speed plus the pick would offset the developmet trait of Flott. It didnt.
5. CB CorDale Flott 349.80 for HB Keaton Mitchell 505.10, Current Pick 52 Overall (R2P20) 760
Current Pick 116 Overall (R4P20) 124
The final trade was approved and thank goodness as if it wasn’t Flott would have went on the no trade list and been cut in the offseason.
This trad ended up being a good deal for both teams. The Ravens got a young superstar who can play any position and dominate while also being able to get two more good abilities. The Giants got their fast running back of the future, while also acquiring two good draft picks for the first PML draft. Mitchell will be mixed in with Tracey this season, with the goal of him taking over fully next season. Mitchell does need to be signed and negotiations are being done as we speak.
