Eleven weeks of Premier Madden League football have come and gone. We are officially onto week 12 of the season and we are here to check who is leading each division and who is officially the bottom feeder of each division.
*Standings are taken from MyMadden
AFC East:
Leader: New York Jets (6-4) – The Jets have done a complete 180 from the start of the season. This is a young team, who weren’t expected to compete with the Dolphins or Bills, however, with both of these teams struggling, the Jets have capitalized. Coach Fallen has used the talent that he has on the roster in an impressive manner. He has the Jets defense as one of the best against the run as well as points scored.
Bottom: New England Patriots (1-10) – The Patriots have one win on the season. This team is hard to figure out. They seem to be in most games, however, they always find a way to lose them. Ironically, their one win came from the division leader. That game wasn’t close at all so if coach Nef can do whatever he did in that game going forward, then he can rack up some wins quickly. With the end of the season approaching fast, most likely we won’t see much more from this team.
AFC West:
Leader: Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) – The AFC West has tapered off as a division, however, the Chiefs have arised out of the ashes to take over this division. Mahomes is leading a top 5 offense, and the Chiefs have had some key wins lately. They have won five of their last six games, with their most recent win coming from the previously undefeated Rams. If they continue trending in the right direction, they could soon overtake the Bengals as the top seed in the AFC.
Bottom: Los Angeles Chargers (3-8)- Oh how the mighty have fallen. Last time we checked in, the Chargers were at the top of this division, calling one of his opponents “floor matt.” Ironically, since then it has been the Chargers and Coach HD who have been the floor matts of the AFC. The Chargers had it all with their roster. This team was so set up that even a blind man could have played with them. The funny part about this team is, as they continue to lose, they continue to acquire more superstar players. As of now it looks like the Chargers will be selecting at the top of the draft where they will most likely find themselves with another superstar player.
AFC North:
Leader: Cincinnati Bengals (9-2) – The Bengals have found themselves as the top dog of the AFC and look to stay that way going into the end of the season. Burrow, Chase, and Mixon have this offense as one of the best point scoring offenses in the league. Their defense is even better than the offense. They did just lose to the Titans, however, they will be looking to show the league that was just an off game. They have a tough schedule left so if they can win these games left, they will be a team no one wants to see in the playoffs.
Bottom: Cleveland Browns (4-7) – The Browns are so similar to the Chargers it’s scary. Both teams were set up for success, to the point that it should be automatic to win with them. Something just isn’t clicking in Cleveland considering the large amount of turnovers that they have each game. They have shown in their win against the Bengals that they have the talent to beat a top team. Coach Vet just needs to take what he did in that game and apply it in every other going forward.
AFC South:
Leader: Houston Texans (9-2) – The Texans were possibly the worst roster in the league and outside of getting Odell, it still is. This hasn’t stopped coach Problem. He is scheming up ways to beat more talented rosters each and every week. If he can play this well with the team the way it is, then it will be scary to see what happens when he commits to the team building aspect this offseason and creates a better roster for the team.
Bottom: Indianapolis Colts (2-10) – The Colts coach is a professional football player, which is one of the great things about the Premier Madden League. Given the nature of his profession, their Coach is very busy and this team has been kind of left out in the wasteland. It will be interesting to see how the team shapes up when more free time is had and their coach can fully engage in the league.
The Jets, Bengals, Chiefs, and Texans are the division leaders of the AFC through eleven weeks of football. The AFC has 9 teams with 6 wins or more who are all fighting for a playoff spot. Most of these teams are fighting for their division crown as well. It will be a photo finish at the end, which will most likely leave someone with double digit wins out of the playoffs. We will be back to see how it all shapes out in the end.
