Let’s breakdown the big nastys on defense !! My DLine . Im very high on these guys i think they have a great mix of youth and seasoning . I was feeling way better about this group until the playoffs started but I’ll have more on that the next paragraph. My linebackers on the other hand our probably my biggest weakness because we don’t have any depth . Thats something we will have to address next year .
Calais Campbell defensive end
Calais is my best rated player and also my oldest at 36 years old . As the playoffs started. He informed me that this would be his last hurrah and I was a little p***** I’m not gonna lie I was p***** because if I would’ve knew I had $18 million that would be opened up , there’s a great chance there’s a player I would’ve resigned instead of letting them walk . Also, Calais has inside stuff which is a big reason why we’ve been able to be so great against the run all year but one thing I am happy about though is that I’ve already been putting points into my young guys. Congrats on retirement Calais!
Michael pierce defensive tackle
I was really excited when I got the ravens because I know where michael Pierce can do I mean I traded Joe Burrow for him last year and he has not disappointed Michael Pierce is our best development not only does he stop the run but he gets a lot of pressure on the quarterback and passing situation I’m very happy about having him for the cycle and I can guarantee he will not be going anywhere.
Travis Jones defensive tackle
Travis is a rookie from Connecticut that early in the season didn’t get a lot of playing time but as I started getting better knowing that I was a good team and I didn’t need to play my best players all the time I gave Travis more playing time and he did a very good job I didn’t think that I would need Travis until season three but with the decision from Calais Campbell to retire that is going to pull a travis up to a starter next year so it’s very imperative to get him up to speed and not lose anything on defense.
Odafe oweh edge rusher / linebacker
Odafe is By far my best athlete on defense don’t let the number 99 for you. He’s an edge rusher but he can play coverage he bolsters 89 speed and 90 acceleration . He ran a 4.35 the 40 . All I need from him now is more consistency. There is games that I see him making a great impact and then there’s games were I don’t even know he’s there if he can put it all together he could be the best defense lineman in the division outside of TJ watt
David Ojabo edge rusher /Linebacker
David missed 10 games this year but when he came back he made an instant impact . David will be my best rusher next year and will have double digit sack numbers I’m sure of it I don’t see any weaknesses in his game. He just needs rich, more awareness and play recognition and the sky is the limit.
Patrick queen middle linebacker
I wasn’t sold on Patrick when i started this season . I would’ve traded him if anybody came calling but man this man has made a huge impact all season ! Big play after big play . Huge interceptions ! Did you see the pick in week 18 to win the division ? This mannnn got that dawg in him and rightfully so he in a lay guy
Malik Harrison middle linebacker
I’ve tried to give Malik the benifit of the doubt and I’m not saying I’m giving up on him but if i see a Middle linebacker with value in the draft u will not be scared to draft him .
Tytus bowser
Tytus has actually made a few splash plays this year and has shown that he would be a very good back up . The problem is i pulled my offer for him i may have to try and bring him back in free agency .
Conclusion I’m really happy about where I’m at upfront . I don’t think i have to do anything here Besides maybe spend money in free agency for a few vets to back up my young guys . Mannn the calais news really sucks . Losing an ability players will always hurt but alll in all we will be ok as far as linebackers go . I really like my starters but we need 1 more fringe starter and some depth so i will be looking to fill that early in the draft .
