Are you seeing the speed of the game starting to slow down for some of the rookies?
Our rookies struggled to find a place on the field last season, but heading into season 3, we will be starting two rookies from last season at both tackle positions. These guys have taken the next step to lead the offensive line and are ready to play at an elite level.
I want to ask you about the receiver position in general. How have you seen that position evolve in importance over the years and how does having a player like WR Elijah Moore sort of factor into that perspective?
Elijah Moore caught 83 receptions last season. He led all receivers but we relied heavily on Chase Claypool. We added Devin Duvernay in free agency and there’s a possibility that we will add more depth in the draft, especially someone with elite speed.
The defense is getting a lot of criticism lately for their level of play. Are you planning to make any changes?
We had the 30th ranked pass defense last season, so we made a huge change by sending Sauce Gardner to the Steelers in exchange for Trevor Lawrence. Heading into Season 3, we believe the best defense is a high scoring offense.
