Can you talk about what it’s like to prepare to go against a player like Patrick Mahomes?
You cant really prepare for a guy like Mahomes. He can make every throw you ask him to. High, Low, Middle of the Field, Outside the numbers, Short, Deep. He's definitely a top 5 QB athletically. Decision making is where hes lacking and thats really his weakness when preparing for the Chiefs. We believe that sending pressure and getting in his face to force a quick throw is how to play against him. Making him make a quick read leads to turnovers and helped us make him turn the ball over 4 times in the first quarter and 6 times total.
What makes Clyde Edwards-Helaire so good?
Personally we dont see CEH a threat. he has 5 carries and 4 catches on the season. We did let up 100 yards to him but those yards came when we were in a prevent defense while up multiple scores, so really it wasnt an issue to us. If were up so many scores we have no issue letting you run and keeping the clock moving.
Did you scout James Williams before the draft? If so, what stood out about him?
James Williams was not on our list of scouting. James was too good to make it to our pick and we figured someone would trade up for him. Only scouting we did was on film when watching another prospect. Great kid but he just was on our board.
How do you see the competition level in the AFC West currently?
AFC West is tight still through 3 weeks. We are one of the 4 divisions that all of us have a win and i think we all play each other competitively for the most part. Last season was rough but we expect to be back.
How do you rank the biggest changes to this team over the off-season by importance? What do you think were the team's best moves? Was there anything you wish you would have done that didn't get to do?
Some of our biggest changes this offseason was moving on from Joey Bosa and bringing in KT. Last season we lacked in the WR department and we needed to get better immediately. So far KT has been involved with the offense and making noise. Moving on from JB was pretty easy considering he has played only 17 games of the 34 in the first 2 seasons, he was due to make about 27M so trading him saved us around 16M. We had the guy in Nolan Smith ready to be the full time starter and we were ready to make the commitment.
