I want to ask you about the receiver position in general. How have you seen that position evolve in importance over the years and how does having a player like WR Cooper Kupp sort of factor into that perspective?
The WR position is just like any other position, but it really depends on the scheme that you run and how much you utilize them, and also in what way. With all that being said, I think having a guy like Cooper Kupp on your team goes a long way. He's able to do so many different things for us. Having him makes things a lot easier on everyone else, and helps other guys to focus on other things that they could work on.
Did you scout Lebbius Overton before the draft? If so, what stood out about him?
We didn't actually. We felt that, as an organization, we needed to address needs elsewhere, and we don't feel that we missed out on him because that's just how confident we are in our guys. Myself, as well as the guys in the front office, feel that the moves we made this offseason in the draft, free agency, and trade market will pay us dividends down the road, but only time will tell.
Can you speak to the overall team health?
We've got a few guys dealing with some stuff, and we're looking to get Aaron Donald back next week given that everything goes to plan. We're also missing out on a veteran TE in Brycen Hopkins, who is a great leader on the field and in the locker room for us. Hopkins will be back in about 4 weeks, but we love that he still sticks around and comes to all the practices and meetings, all while also getting his treatment in. You can tell he really loves these group of guys, and as an organization we return that same love back to him.
