1 – Only 6 users have not faced a suspension of any kind in Madden 23
The list is composed of Dot, Greeny, HD, Dlloyd, DK, and Z. That means every commissioner, yes even JT, has had at least one suspension so far this cycle. 31 total users have faced at least 1 suspension this cycle.
2 – 4 users have gotten a suspension at least once a cycle since Madden 20
PML’s yearly bad boys are Bubba, Mali, CEO, and Curt. Bubba comes to the surprise of no one. Mali has broken a midseason/end of year usage rule at least once every cycle. CEO has a few ticky-tacky suspensions spread over the years.
Curt is the oddest one though. Curt has only played 1 full cycle in Madden 20, but still has found a way to get a guy suspended during his part-time stints since then.
3 – Hypemike is the only user to get a player suspended during the postseason
Usually postseason play is PML’s best football. There’s no reason to get a guy suspended during playoff football. Well, unless you break the 10/10 rule. And in Season 3 of Madden 23, Hypemike did just that by passing less than 10 times in his Wild Card win over Drama. So in the conference championship, the commish team suspended QB Justin Fields for the pivotal battle.
But the opponent for the AFC title game was Que’s Dolphins. So that means the story didn’t end here. Jaguars backup QB Cameron Rising, well, rose to the occasion and lead the Jaguars to a Super Bowl berth. Hypemike made a borderline mockery of the AFC on his playoff run, while also arguably flexing his top level skill in the process.
4 – Jefe once had 6 straight weeks of a suspension because of his sim score being too low
Madden 22 was a wild time in PML when it came to sim scores. Some users like KMAC, Drama, and HD lost a player for multiple weeks in a row because of a low sim score. But no one faced a tougher stretch than Jefe during Season 2 of Madden 22. From Week 11 to Week 16, Jefe lost a player of the opponent’s choice from his Packers squad per the low sim score rule.
Bonus fact: During this stretch Jefe got an injured Aaron Rodgers suspended! So Jefe played backup QB Jordan Love, who was chosen to be suspended, in Week 12. The next week the commish team suspended Jefe’s starting QB for 3 weeks. That included Aaron Rodgers for 2 weeks, since he was due to return from injury in Week 14
5 – Mali is the only person to get 2 different usage suspensions for the same player at the same time
The game is Madden 21. It’s the end of Season 3. And Rashaad Penny had quite the workload for Mali’s Seahawks. An insane workload. To the point where Penny got suspended for the 80/20 rule AND for going over the 29.9% team receptions rule. Did anyone else play for the Seahawks that year? Rashaad Penny got suspended for 8 games for this rule breaking fiasco.
6 – Z and Greeny have never faced a suspension
The only 2 active PML users to never face a suspension of any kind. Z will come to the surprise of no one. But Greeny might raise a few eyebrows. A user who’s reputation has seemed to supersede reality, Greeny has never been dinged for breaking any rules since his introduction in Madden 21. But Greeny did lose his team after season 1 in Madden 22, so there is that. Also shout out to Goose, who never had a suspension from his run in Madden 20 – Madden 22
7 – Curt got the same player suspended for air yardage in 2 different cycles
I don’t know why Curt has such an infamous PML suspension history for being a part-time user. So in Madden 21, Curt took over the Jags at the end of the cycle. At the end of Season 4, Curt got WR DJ Chark suspended for breaking the air yardage rule.
Fast forward to Madden 23, where Curt takes over the Lions in the middle of Season 1. And the Lions had good ol DJ Chark on the roster. And at the midway point of Season 2, Curt got Chark suspended for the same air yardage rule. Just chuck it up and hope for the best, the Curt strategy 4 years running now.
8 – Bubba once got 2 running back suspended for the 80/20 rule in one season
This is recent history, like the Hypemike postseason suspension but still worth putting on the list. In Season 3 of Madden 23, Bijan Robinson got suspended at the halfway point of the season for the 80/20 rule. Bijan Robinson was also playing illegally, as the former longhorn never served his suspension for breaking the 80/20 rule at the end of Season 2.
The commish team turned Bijan into a punter, and critically ruled that Bijan’s Season 3 carries would not count for the Titans 80/20 balance for Season 3. That opened the door for little Ty Chandler to take the Titans starting RB job. And yes, Bubba managed to get Chandler suspended at the end of Season 3 for the 80/20 rule. That meant Bubba’s top 2 RBs were suspended for the start of Season 4. And just for fun Bubba also got WR Quez Watkins suspended to start season 4 for air yardage. Once again, Bubba is a the uncontested king of PML suspensions.
9 – Nick Chubb and Cam Akers both got suspended in the hands of 2 different users in the same cycle AND Nick Chubb got suspended 3 straight seasons for midseason 80/20 usage rule in Madden 23
Let’s start off with Chubb. In Seasons 1 and 2, it was Vet who got Chubb kicked to the curt for 4 weeks at the midseason usage deadline. In Season 3, Miles took over the Browns and followed Vet’s lead. Week 11-14 has been Chubb’s yearly load management weeks. Try not to follow the trend DOC!
Now the Cam Akers offense happened in Madden 21. At the end of Season 1, Razz got Akers suspended for the 80/20 before winning the PML offseason paper championship and subsequently leaving the league. After a BoBands stint in Season 2, MikeD grabbed the reigns of the Rams in year 3. And at the end of year 3, MikeD managed to get Akers suspended for the same 80/20 rule. Par for the course for the Madden 21 Rams.
10 – Bills QB Josh Allen has served 7 different suspensions across 4 different cycles
We end our journey by going over PML’s most suspended virtual player. In Madden 20, Bubba got Josh Allen suspended 8 games for stat padding. In Madden 21, KMFO got Josh Allen suspended 4 games for stat padding. In Madden 22…take a wild guess why Josh Allen got 2 separate 1 game suspensions in the hands of Bubba?
And in our current cycle of Madden 23, Bandit has gotten Allen suspended 3 times…for 3 different reasons! This might also be a record it inself. First Allen got suspended 4 games cause Bandit broke the 10/10 rule multiple times during Season 1. In the middle of Season 2, the commish team chose to suspend Josh Allen for 2 games because Bandit didn’t stream a game earlier in the year (or the VOD got deleted, who knows). And in Season 3, the commish team went to ol reliable when Bandit broke the 4th down rule in a game, a 2 game suspension for Josh Allen.
