What is this?
Nef’s Power Rankings is a Power Rankings that will be provided weekly for PML members to enjoy! It’s rankings that don’t necessarily go off popular opinion or past results. It’s a fresh new look into power rankings that completely takes the popularity contest and bias out of it!
What is our goal?
Our goal is to provide a better understanding on who is really performing the best within a specific season using nothing but stats!
Who is involved?
Nefarious- Data gathering and inputing weekly.
Z- Weekly summary on the biggest surprises week to week to provide some substance to the Power Rankings and graphic itself.
CB- Weekly graphic to add something pretty to look at!
What stats are involved? Also what matters most?
Our Power Rankings are based into multiple scores. First you have your Record Score which gives you a certain amount of points every week. Making wins and loses weigh heavily week to week. Then you have your Weekly Score which gathers multiple stats based on that week to give you an overall score and performance on a week to week basis. Next you have Streak which takes your recent winning or losing streak to also adjust your ranking week to week. Then you have Team Overall that plays a very small factor when deciding where teams fall weekly. Finally we have our Total Score which is a combination of average Weekly Score, Record Score, Streak and Team Overall.
All of these things matter and factor into the final result but some matter more than others. Based on formulas used in this spreadsheet i can tell you roughly what effects the rankings mostly week to week and what effects them the least.
(From most to least)
Record Score– This is simple and self explanatory. The more you win the higher your score is. Wins and loses both weigh evenly. Wins effect it in a positive manner and loses effect it in a negative manner. For ties both team get half of what a win would get them.
Weekly Score– Recent weekly scores matter the most after record score. Older weeks (combined in 2’s) will effect the Total Score a little less and less as the season goes on. Weekly Scores does have multiple factors in it itself so I’ll break it down in most important to least.
– Record Differential in a win
– Point Differential
– Record Differential in a loss
– Ranking Differential in a win/loss (based on previous weeks total rankings)
– Team Overall Differential in a win/loss (based on team overall going into that weeks game)
– Points For/Points Against (small amount positive points for high scoring teams, and small amount subtracted for bad defenses)
Streak- With every win streak or losing streak you’ll receive a small hit or bump to your Total Score. So even if you lose one after having a big win streak you won’t punished by it in your total score. But the longer the streak is the more effect it can have on your Total Score and ranking.
Team Overall– Team Overall should matter. Especially when building a team is half of the battle. Though it matters it will not have a significant effect on our Power Rankings.
Thats a quick summary of what goes into it week to week. Please DM me (Nefarious) if you have any other questions.

“Cracking The Code!”- Codes’ Storylines of The Week
Ant Competing?: So the Niners end week 8 as the 5th seed with a 5-3 record. He has had similar hot starts to a season just to flameout, but this one seems different. Trey Lance every season has had a negative TD-INT ratio… this year the ratio is 21-15 against some solid defenses. I think if he can keep being careful with the ball and play his game we might just see Ant in the playoffs for the first time this cycle.
LQ is Disappointing: I wasn’t here for prime LQ… since entering PML all I have seen from LQ is: making a bad trade with the bears, losing, having to step away from PML, comeback as the Seahawks, losing, not get a team to start M23 cycle, say PML doesn’t want him and to watch what happens when he gets a team, get a pretty good Lions team (86 ovr), losing, get even better in the off-season (Adams/Johnson), losing, and make no content. I like LQ he seems like a chill guy and I have no reason to dislike him, but to complain about not getting a team then once you get one you don’t perform well and make no content, it just looks like Curt with better WiFi.
Hypemike is a 3 Season Player: Hypemike is one of the highest rated PML members if not THE highest rated PML member. I can see why, he takes mid teams to deep playoff runs with good stick work and defense… but I feel like you can’t be THE top player if you’re only trying for 3 out of the 5 seasons. I saw it last cycle he was competing with the bad lions team and even made a super bowl (he lost) then once it hit season 4… he kinda just fell off and same with season 5. The 3-5 start and losing to Mali and Drama is a huge sign that it’s a pattern. He made his two super bowls (and lost) so it’s time to chill and not care anymore. Part of PML is being able to go the distance (all 5 seasons) that’s why users like Z and Kingmike have a lot of respect from me because they’re still fighting hard in seasons 4 and 5 like it’s season 1. Hopefully this gives Mike motivation to start competing again.
Codes’ Unknown Heroes of the Week
Sean Tucker (12 carries, 180 yards, 3 total TDs): I think I’ve heard Dlloyd mention this guy a few times, but I have personally never really heard of him. The game before he had 2 carries for 12 yards and his career high was 84 yards… so to have 100 more yards than your career high out of nowhere earns you a spot on Heroes of the Week.
Isaac Rex (7 catches, 141 yards, 1 TD): Queue the “who the ** is this guy” clip… no seriously who is this? This random 4th round pick with 82 speed just had half of his total yards and TDs this season in just one game.
Demon Clowney (4 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles): This guy was on my draft board a few seasons ago, but I never really heard of him after the draft. I guess his parents weren’t lying maybe this guy really is a Demon. Hopefully this guy can keep up the good work.
