Can you describe kind of the energy or the mood and the vibe in the building now coming in the home stretch?
The energy is heading in the right direction. We won the super bowl and rode that high during the beginning of the season, it quickly faded away. Every game we have lost was within 4 points, we can't panic and change things up over close losses. Have to stay focused and prove who we are with these tough games coming up.
Can you speak to the overall team health?
The health of the team has been one of our biggest downfalls, there hasn't been a point in the season where one of our superstar players weren't out. In the loss to Atlanta. Godwin, Wirfs, Jensen, and the young guard double O were all out. Godwin and Jensen still have a few weeks left, so we are really counting on these backups to step up. Russell Gage and our young tightend Darnell Washington have to fill the shoes of Godwin.
How would you assess where your team is near the halfway point of the season?
Average but dangerous. 5-4 doesn't make anyone's eyes pop out with excitement or disappointment, but once you breakdown the games you can see how dangerous this squad can be if we make the playoffs. The Packers, Rams, Bills, and Giants are running the league right now (30-6-1 combined record) yet we either beat those teams or had an extremely close game. We just have to find our identity down the stretch and tighten up.
