What does it mean to you or the team to have such a great winning record at home this season?

Having a strong winning record at home means everything to us as a team. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication we've put in during practice and throughout the week. Our home fans play a vital role in that success; their energy and support create an incredible atmosphere that gives us an extra edge on the field. Winning at home builds confidence and camaraderie within the locker room, reinforcing our belief in each other and our system. We know that every game is an opportunity to grow, and maintaining this momentum is crucial as we head into tougher matchups down the line. It also sets a standard for the way we want to perform, showing that we can protect our turf and make it difficult for our opponents.

Moreover, a solid home record can be a significant advantage when it comes to playoff positioning. Every victory at home is a step closer to our ultimate goal of competing for a championship. It reflects our commitment to making Raymond James Stadium a fortress for our opponents. We understand that teams will come in wanting to make a statement, so we must match their intensity. It’s about creating a culture of excellence that starts at home and carries us through the entire season. This winning mentality is something we strive to build upon, and we look forward to continuing to give our fans something to cheer about as the season progresses.

Can you summarize what it was like playing against the Giants last week?

Playing against the Giants last week was a challenging experience for our team. We faced a formidable opponent that has garnered significant attention as a Super Bowl contender, and they certainly showed why during the game. Losing 36-20 highlighted some of the struggles we faced, particularly given the suspensions of key players like Baker Mayfield and Rachaad White. With those suspensions, we had to turn to our backups, which placed us in a tough spot. Jordan Travis stepped in at quarterback, and while he showcased some flashes of potential, he faced a tough defense that was ready for the challenge.

The running back situation was also challenging, as we had to rely on a mix of backup halfbacks in place of Rachaad. This lack of continuity impacted our offensive rhythm, making it difficult to establish a consistent ground game. The Giants took advantage of our struggles, controlling the pace of the game and capitalizing on our mistakes. Despite the outcome, our team showed resilience, and there were moments of promise that we can build upon moving forward. We learned valuable lessons about depth and preparation, and we need to use this experience to sharpen our focus as we prepare for future matchups. Our goal remains to regroup, refocus, and come back stronger as we move into the next part of the season.

What is the status of Jamel Dean and when is he set to return?

Jamel Dean is currently in the final stages of his recovery from the torn labrum that has sidelined him for five weeks. We’re optimistic about his progress, and he’s on track to return in two weeks, which is encouraging news for our defense. Jamel is an integral part of our secondary, known for his speed, coverage skills, and ability to make big plays. His absence has certainly been felt, and we’ve had to adjust our game plan accordingly.

During his time away, we’ve added some talented players to our secondary, including Charvarius Ward from the 49ers, Nate Hobbs from the Raiders, and Julius Brents from the Colts. These players have stepped in and contributed to the rotation, but there’s no substitute for Jamel’s experience and playmaking ability. While we appreciate the depth and talent we’ve been able to incorporate, having Jamel back will enhance our defensive scheme significantly. His presence allows us to be more aggressive in our coverage and provides added stability, which is crucial as we gear up for the rest of the season.

As a coaching staff, we’re looking forward to reintroducing him into the lineup and helping him regain his rhythm. We’re confident that once he returns, we’ll be even more formidable on the defensive side of the ball. The chemistry he has with the rest of the unit is invaluable, and we believe he’ll elevate the overall performance of our defense. We’re counting down the days until we have him back on the field.
