MIDNIGHT MADDENESS’ PRE DDT- DIVISION DRAFT GRADES [NFC S]

The crew came together to break down the divisions in PML and give each team a grade. Grades/opinions on this article are based on a team’s perceived goals before the draft, utilization of their draft capital, & how they executed during the draft.

Carolina Panthers – (MM Grade A)

  • QB Anthony Richarson (73)
  • TE Arik Gilbert (76)
  • TE Arik Gilbert (76)
  • TE DJ Barker (63)
  • WR Jermey Tate Jr. (60)
  • DT Mazi Smith (60)
  • HB Johnny Langan (57)
  • TE Brayden Willis (64)
  • MLB Drew Sanders (63)
  • WR Trae Hall (64)
  • ROLB Amari Burney (58)
  • RE Javontae J-Bapiste (67)
  • LOLB Noah Taylor (62)
  • LOLB Robert Beal Jr. (66)
  • LOLB Reggie Grimes (65)
  • RT Ryan Swoboda (64)

The Panthers had the number 1 overall pick and had 16 draft picks, so it would be pretty difficult to have a bad draft. Coach JT went out there and did what he does best… which is draft athletic freaks. The ranking was only an A because when DDT hits that can make or break a draft, so if Richardson were to get XF it now has room to improve.

Atlanta Falcons – (MM Grade B-)

  • FS Tyrique Stevenson (69)
  • RG Layden Robinson (73)
  • CB Tre’Vius H-Tomlinson (66)
  • TE Keon Zipperer (60)

All of Coach Greeny’s off-season moves left him with little draft capital, so it was hard for him to get anything higher than a B just based off of only having 4 picks. On top of that one of his draft picks Zipperer was a wasted pick, he is a 6’1 TE which is extremely undersized. He does have 90 speed, but that does not save him. However Tyrique was one of the steals of the draft.

New Orleans Saints – (MM Grade A-)

  • QB Bryce Young (77)
  • RT Mason Brooks (69)
  • HB Deuce Vaughn (74)
  • WR Rakim Jarrett (73)
  • LE Tuli Tuipulotu (69)
  • C Ricky Stromberg (70)
  • FS Brandon Joseph (70)
  • CB Tiawan Mullen (67)
  • ROLB Cam Jones (58)
  • TE Camren McDonald (64)
  • DT Keondre Coburn (69)
  • LE Brandon Dorlus (68)
  • QB Grayson McCall (63)
  • HB Evan Hall (59)
  • RT Tyler Steen (67)

Similar to JT, Burn had a LOT of draft picks. He had the number 2 overall pick and chose Bryce Young. Since day 1 people have not been very high on Bryce. He is seen as very average. Average throw power, speed, accuracy, ect. His other picks were solid. This ranking has a good chance of going down after DDT if Bryce doesn’t get blessed.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – (MM Grade B)

  • TE Darnell Washington (67)
  • RG Olesugun Oluwatimi (72)
  • RE Colby Wooden (68)
  • QB Dorian T.-Robinson (61)
  • DT Siaki Ika (72)
  • RG Emil Ekiyor Jr. (67)
  • MLB Dillion Doyle (68)
  • CB Cam Hart (67)
  • WR Jadon Haselwood (67)

The Bucs had a lot of later picks, but they capitalized with what they had. They did a good job of addressing holes and future needs. The only thing that can really be critiqued is how early they drafted QB DTR, it can be assumed they were worried other teams had their eyes on him. Regardless it was a big reach, but overall solid draft.
