Can you talk about the development of Shavon Revel so far?

Shavon Revel has been making steady progress since joining our practice squad, and he’s really starting to show the potential that got him into our building in the first place. Working with the scout team has been a huge part of his development. Going up against our group of receivers on a daily basis is an incredible learning experience for any cornerback, and it’s a real challenge. Lining up against guys like Mike Evans, Trey Palmer, Chris Godwin, Elijah Moore, and Jalen Royals is something that forces you to elevate your game. Every rep, every snap is a chance to sharpen your skills, and it pushes Shavon to get better every day.

Our DB room is one of the deepest position groups on the team, and Shavon’s in a great spot to continue growing. The competition around him is fierce, and that’s only going to help him as he works to earn more opportunities. But even with that depth, we’re definitely keeping an eye on him. He’s a young player with a lot of potential, and we’re excited to see what he brings in season 2. If he continues to work hard, keep improving, and stay focused on his craft, there’s no doubt he’s going to make an impact for us in the future. The growth we’ve seen in him so far has been encouraging, and we’re excited to see how he develops moving forward.

What were the key challenges posed by the Jets in your last game?

The Jets posed a number of key challenges in our Week 17 matchup. They’ve got a very balanced offense, and when you have that many weapons, it makes it tough to defend. Jalen Milroe, as a dual-threat quarterback, can hurt you both with his arm and his legs. He’s a real playmaker, and we had to be mindful of his ability to break free and turn a broken play into a big gain. His mobility keeps defenses on edge, and you can’t just focus on his passing – you have to account for him as a runner as well. He was definitely a big challenge for us all game long.

Then you’ve got guys like Kyle Pitts and Breece Hall, who can take over a game at any moment. Pitts is a matchup nightmare, especially down the middle of the field, and his ability to create separation and make plays in critical situations is something we had to constantly account for. Breece Hall, as we know, is a special talent at running back – he can hit the home run on any carry, so we had to be disciplined in stopping the run and making sure we tackled him in space. Luckily for us, they were missing Isaiah Bond, who is a major weapon in their offense, but they still have enough talent to make plays all over the field. Defensively, we had to stay focused, execute our game plan, and make sure we didn’t give up big plays. It was a tough challenge, but we’re glad we were able to come out with the win.

What did you learn about your team's capabilities from the matchup with the Jets?

The matchup with the Jets really showed us a lot about our team’s capabilities, especially when it comes to perseverance and resilience. We faced a lot of adversity in that game. We got off to a strong start and were up early, but then we gave up the lead and found ourselves down by two scores. We could’ve let that get to us, but our guys didn’t fold. We fought back, got close, and then found ourselves down by two scores again. But what stood out to me was how we responded. Instead of panicking or getting discouraged, we kept our composure, stayed focused, and made plays when we needed to.

Ultimately, we were able to come back and win the game by 10 points, putting up 61 points in the process. That’s a testament to the fight in this team. No matter how many punches we took, we kept getting back up and kept pushing forward. Our ability to stay confident and execute under pressure is something we can carry with us as we head into the postseason. It wasn’t perfect, but the way we were able to weather the storm and finish strong is a clear reflection of this team’s mentality – we don’t back down, and we’re always ready to keep battling until the final whistle.
